Loveable characters, solid performances, a great adventure full of magic and danger, sometimes hilarious, sometimes cute, sometimes very emotional, a lot of pipe smoking, beautiful world building, and some of the best looking production designs and visual effects I've seen in a German movie so far.

BarryFink’s review published on Letterboxd: I used to love this book when I was little and I am sure that I would have also liked this adaptation would it have been around back in the day. It mostly treats the material with love and care, thus preserving much of its magical atmosphere.
