Jim Burnstein, Professor and Director of the University of Michigan’s nationally acclaimed Screenwriting Program since 1995, managed to beat the odds and make it as a successful Hollywood screenwriter without moving from his home in Plymouth, Michigan.
The gift, given by the Patricia W. Mitchell Trust, will establish the John H. Mitchell Professorship in Entertainment. Screenwriter and LSA faculty member Jim Burnstein has been appointed as the inaugural professor to serve in this role.
One such guest is screenwriter Jim Burnstein. Burnstein has been working as a screenwriter for about twenty-five years and is responsible (or partly responsible) for writing such films as Renaissance Man and D3: The Mighty Ducks (both of which are screening at this year’s festival).
On Thursday afternoon, Burnstein taught a screenwriting seminar for forty film students at the Fort Hayes Arts and Academic High School and Career Center, a magnet school that attracts students from across Metropolitan Columbus.
