Jim Allen (playwright) is a British playwright and screenwriter. He was born on 7 October 1926 in Miles Platting, Manchester, England. He is best known for his plays about working-class life in the North of England, such as Perdition (1987) and In the Company of Men (1989).
Allen was born into a Catholic family in the Miles Platting area of Manchester in 1926. His father worked on the railways and his mother was a presser in the clothing trade.
