   • Gershwin's tumour was large enough to have a mass effect, but his death cannot easily be explained by the tumour alone because of his sudden collapse and coma that occurred when he stood up. This rapid course of events in the presence of a large supratentorial tumour strongly suggests brain herniation, and subsequent Duret haemorrhage.
