Jean-François Hamtramck (sometimes called John Francis Hamtramck) (1756–1803) was a New France-born man who served as an officer in the US Army during the American Revolutionary War and the Northwest Indian War.
aka Colonel Jean Francois Hamtramck Resident of Northern New York when the Revolution broke out, and was a captain in the Continental army. He was appointed a major in the regular army of the United States in September, 1798, and was promoted to the lieutenant colonel commandant of the first sub-legion in February, 1793.
