Feb 14, 2011 · MWF said: Wilman and Clarkson always wanted May as the third presenter (he had featured in the last series of the old format of TG) but he was unsure the new format would work so Dawe was drafted in instead. Once May saw the first series he changed his mind and joined the team so Dawe was surplus to requirements.
Recently starting watching the series again from the beginning and missed the first season on my first go thru. At first I didn't really care for him knowing that James May is a national treasure but the more I watched I thought Jason wasn't bad at all. He did his best and knew his shit.
