    July 1, 2020: The Oklahoma County Jail Trust officiallytakes over management of the county jail, removing the sheriff’s office from operations and bringing in a small team of administrators, most with experience from the state’s corrections system.

    July 28, 2020:As COVID-19 surges locally, 33 inmates and six people who work at the jail test positive. More than 540 inmates are placed in quarantine. The outbreak comes as the jail population climbs above 1,900, its highest in years.
