A psychologist decided to conduct an experiment to investigate the effect of watching horror films before going to bed. A volunteer sample of 50 university students consented to take part in the experiment. The 50 students were randomly split into two groups.
This answer would be marked as follows: 2 marks for a clear and accurate description of a method that would investigate the effect of interference on the accuracy of memory. 1 mark for a hypothesis that lacks some clarity. The dependent variable is not clear in that ‘better’ is not a measurable concept.
