  6. A brief history of the future by Jacques Attali is a good read and a good book to have in any library. It's 278 pages without the index. The history of the near future, in this book, is basically told; from the writer's point of view. It's a liberal perspective. Keep that in mind. Don't expect a realistic approach to the future with this book.

  7. Prescient and convincing, this book is a must-read for anyone concerned about the future. Never has the world offered more promise for the future and been more fraught with dangers. Attali anticipates an unraveling of American hegemony as transnational corporations sever the ties linking free enterprise to democracy.
