The Israel Film Fund was established in 1979 to address the need for a public fund that would support Israeli filmmakers produce outstanding, innovative, and groundbreaking films.
The Shomron Cinema Fund website describes the fund’s mission: “At the core of this initiative is the desire to enhance the visibility and representation of Israel’s peripheral areas and to cultivate a rich cultural and professional dialogue between creators residing in these areas and the burgeoning Israeli film industry.”
The films created by Israeli filmmakers are innovative, challenging, and fascinating, capturing critics and audiences' attention throughout the world. Most Israeli films are supported by five Israeli film funds funded by the Ministry of Culture and Sport of the State of Israel.
