As Sci-Fi Channel B-movies go, this is a good one. It is neatly paced and doesn't drag, and the characters, although clichéd, are well-played and likable. The basic premise is that a very small, remote town in Alaska is terrorized by the appearance of a wyvern (a non-fire-breathing dragon, for those who care).

Written by Jason Bourque and directed by Steven R. Monroe, the film is the 15th of the Maneater Series produced under an agreement with Sci Fi Pictures. The film stars Nick Chinlund as Jake Suttner, a trucker who must stop a wyvern from eating the residents in the small town of Beaver Mills, Alaska. [1] In Japan, it is titled Jurassic Predator.
The effects in "Wyvern" were actually surprisingly good for a TV movie, because the wyvern itself did actually look quite nice and had some good details to it. Of course, it wasn't fully up to the standards of the Hollywood blockbusters.

Jan 31, 2009 · The residents of a small Alaskan town find themselves under attack by a flying reptile known in medieval mythology as a Wyvern. It has thawed from its ancient slumber by melting icecaps caused by global warming.
The acting is good, and the effects aren’t half bad. The wyvern’s design and execution are good stuff for a movie on this level. All in all, probably the best Maneater film.

Dec 28, 2014 · Earnest performances, good pacing and a surprisingly impressive central creature all help make WYVERN one of the very best Sci-Fi Channel-originated CG monster movies. That may be damning it with the faintest of faint praise, but it really is a decent movie in its own right, so credit where its due.
