I had zero interest in music-centric movies (band specific movies excluded), especially jazz. But I watch Whiplash at least once a year since it came out, and it is absolutely one of my favorite films of all time.
For some, it's not worth it to lose it all to be the best. For others, it's worth sacrificing it all to be the best. Every single person needs to make a decision on their own.
It stands at 88% on Metacritic, and I'd agree with that. Teller is good in it, and Simmons is excellent. Worth watching for sure.
