Its location in Louisiana, the country’s sole civil-law jurisdiction, gives Tulane a distinctive understanding of the interaction of different legal systems and is the foundation for Tulane’s world-renowned strength in international and comparative law.
Tulane Law School, the twelfth oldest law school in the United States, was established in 1847, thirteen years after Tulane University was founded. Tulane University itself traces its history to the founding of the Medical College of Louisiana in 1834.
By combining a sophisticated understanding of law in its global context with hands-on skills training in service to our own community, Tulane Law prepares students for leadership in an increasingly diverse and interconnected profession.
Our campus features over 110 buildings, including 50 buildings dedicated to housing our 70 plus majors from our 5 undergraduate schools. A number of our graduate programs, including the Tulane Law School, are also housed on our Uptown campus.
