Jan 25, 2016 · This Gun For Hire: One of the Great Film Noirs in American Cinema Alan Ladd in his star-making role. This practically perfect early noir has a strong reputation and yet, while researching for this review, I was left with the feeling that it's underrated.
With an intricate plot that requires careful attention, This Gun for Hire is a hugely entertaining movie and a smash-up of elements that would go on to become noir tropes.
