The frescoed palace on one side, the arch with the gray stone statues, the yellow half-timbered house on the other. A unique mix of architectural styles for a unique place in the world.

The Altes Rathous is really a historic wonder. Forgetting its age for a moment, the building itself is full of charming details and interesting focal points. Never mind that it's located in the center of the river, the house is a definite must see in Bamberg and someplace that you should spend 1/2 hour just soaking the details in.

Oct 16, 2024 · The Neue Residenz Bamberg is a beautiful palace that was built in the 17th century. The interior of the castle is filled with ornate ceilings, tapestries, and art. The rose garden is also an added attraction. The palace is open for guided tours and it is a must-visit for anyone visiting Bamberg.
Aug 25, 2024 · Altes Rathaus: This iconic town hall sits on an island in the middle of the Regnitz River. Its stunning frescoes and half-timbered architecture make it a must-see. Bamberger Dom: The Bamberg Cathedral, with its four imposing towers, houses the tomb of Pope Clement II and the famous Bamberg Horseman statue.
The house is the birthplace of Joseph Heller, a local businessman, historian and art collector. In fact, Heller left an art collection to the Bamberg State Library. Like many buildings, on the lower level of the blue house is a shop of some sort. Most of these colorful homes date back to the Middle Ages. This is a must see attraction.
