It's important that the WAD files names does not contain capital letters (e.g. the files need to be placed with file names doom1.wad and doom2.wad)

   • Older DOOM games (1,2 and final) use .WAD files as their main game files. Those cost money, you can find them on Steam, or GOG for pretty cheap. GZDoom and ZDoom are Source Ports.
