Created by Adrian Hodges, the BBC production takes artistic license with the source material, which is understandable given not everything translates well from book to screen, especially when there are nearly 200 years in between the book’s publication and the adaptation. In the show, d'Artagnan (Luke Pasqualino) travels to Paris when a tragedy lea...
Dumas’ novel is timeless, but after so many adaptations, one could argue there’s hardly anything new one can do with the story. Each incarnation tries to give the story its own spin, and the BBC’s The Musketeers is no different. Though a historical show, the story plays fast and loose with history, so don’t study it like a textbook. Part-police pro...
Shows like Bridgerton have gone a long way to normalizing the concept of an inclusive past, and this was one of the features of The Musketeers as well. Must-watch if you're into lighthearted period drama and swordfighting. The show ran for three seasons (2014-2016) and is now concluded. Now, it's far from perfect or super high quality television, but I found it incredibly enjoyable.
The Musketeers is a really fun show that isn't mind-blowing by any stretch of the imagination, but it is consistently watchable and gets better further into the series. Its worth watching a few episodes to see how you feel.
i loved watching it improve and evolve and the characters storylines are so good! i’ve just finished the series and i definitely plan on rewatching it soon! What are some of your favourite fanfictions, if you read them?
