- HEATH LEDGER: HE HAD NO MORALITY. Whereas Phoenix's Joker just wanted to be "somebody" and noticed, Ledger's Joker has no such desires. Phoenix's Joker knows the difference between right and wrong, because he knows when he makes a mistake (society constantly reminds him of it) and feels remorse (until its beat out of him).
- JOAQUIN PHOENIX: HE DIDN'T NEED BATMAN. Joker stands on its own as a film separate from the DCEU. It doesn't mention Batman, and only makes tertiary references to the Batman mythos.
- HEATH LEDGER: HE WAS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. If there was one thing that Heath Ledger's Joker radiated other than insanity, it was danger. There was something murderous and malevolent about his presence.
- JOAQUIN PHOENIX: HE CREATED A COMPLEX CHARACTER. We'll never know what Heath Ledger would have done with an origin story for his Joker, but Joaquin Phoenix created a character who is well-rounded and fleshed out, with both sympathetic and deplorable qualities.

- He'd Be Something New In The Marvel Universe. The Joker's attacks against Gotham City are fun to read about but the whole thing often feels stale. There are only so many times a mental patient in clown make-up holding a city hostage with gas bombs he made with paint thinner and chlorine can be interesting, especially with the same hero always dealing with it.
- He'd Bring A Deadly Threat Like Few Others. One of the great things about the Joker and Batman's battles is how Joker is able to inexplicably lead one of the smartest people on the planet around by the nose.
- Marvel's Been Turning Out Inferior Copies For Years. Joker has inspired multiple Marvel characters over the years but most of them feel like pale imitations.
- He's A Threat To Many Different Kinds Of Heroes. Joker has fought a lot of DC heroes besides Batman. While he's lost to most of them, he was still a challenging opponent, even though his only powers are black humor and an almost instinctive mastery of ways to kill people.
