  1. May 5, 2022 · Is the statement “The Sun Orbits the Earth” false? Not according to professor Richard Muller of the University of California, Berkeley, as I discussed yesterday.Muller argues that Einstein’s theory of general relativity implies that you can view the Sun as orbiting the Earth if you like, or that both the Sun and Earth orbit Venus, or a random point in space, or anything else for that matter.

  2. May 24, 2022 · Back before we encountered Professor Richard Muller's claim that "According to [Einstein's] general theory of relativity, the Sun does orbit the Earth. And the Earth orbits the Sun," I was creating a series of do-it-yourself astronomy posts. (A list of the links is here.) Along the way, we rediscovered for ourselves one of the key laws of…

  3. Aug 5, 2018 · The gravitational effect of solar system makes the earth stable- (Rig Veda 1-103-2, 1-115-4 and 5-81-2). The axle of the Earth does not get rusted, the Earth continues to revolve on its axle- (Rig Veda 1-164-29). The Sun never sets or rises and it is the Earth, which rotates- (Sama-Ved 121). Now here are my questions.

  4. Earth orbit (yellow) compared to a circle (gray) Earth orbits the Sun at an average distance of 149.60 million km (92.96 million mi), or 8.317 light-minutes, [1] in a counterclockwise direction as viewed from above the Northern Hemisphere. One complete orbit takes 365.256 days (1 sidereal year), during which time Earth has traveled 940 million ...

  5. May 4, 2022 · Muller’s claim is that in general relativity even your statement that ” the earth & sun are orbiting the center of mass of the earth /sun system (barycenter)” is an arbitrary coordinate choice. It would be just as accurate, he says, to say the Earth orbits the Sun or the Sun orbits the Earth or all of us are orbiting Venus, or a point midway between Jupiter and Saturn.

  7. Transcript. NARRATOR: Earth experiences two different motions, rotation and revolution. Earth spins on its axis, and it takes one day to do so. In one day Earth makes one rotation on its axis. Earth also travels on an elliptical orbit around the Sun. And it takes one year to make a complete trip. In one year Earth makes one revolution around ...
