Now, I actually agree with you and I'm against the death penalty, but I'll offer a counterpoint concerning this particular part of your message ; the death penalty frees up some penal establishments. Convicts cost money to municipalities, both from offering shelter and food to them, and also from the necessity to build state-owned or province-owned prisons.
