DiCaprio plays an American tourist who finds himself alone and bored in a grimy Thailand hotel. This is after the movie has ABSURDLY gone to great length to demonstrate that tourism is a "blight" on the culture of the Thailand red light district!
Etienne (Guillaume Canet) and Francoise (Virginie Ledoyen) join him on an adventure to "The Beach," a mystical paradise. However, this paradise is less than perfect.
