Jun 1, 2020 · Tall Tale is not a well-remembered movie. If you search for “1995 films” on Google or Bing (don’t laugh) you’ll scarcely find it in the subsequent list. If I was to summarize its quality, I would describe it as “the kind of movie you’d watch during a rainy recess in elementary school.”
Tall Tale actually feels like a throwback to the innocent, robust G-rated fun of earlier live-action Disney family-adventures such as Swiss Family Robinson or Treasure Island, and it's got the splendid production values to match (filming locations in Monument Valley, Arizona).

Tall Tale is a pretty dumb film, and contains an UNFORGIVABLE 'twist' 15 minutes from the end... But at least you can't accuse it of lacking imagination. Apart from in the set-up, that is. A land-hungry baron during the Ol' West wants to buy up the property of nearby farmers.
