Bioshock is basically System Shock for casuals. If you liked Bioshock because you're a casual gamer, then you'll hate SS2. If you liked Bioshock in spite of it being so easy that it's basically impossible to fail, then there's a good chance you'll like SS2.
My general thoughts in no particular order: overall game was great. Gunplay is functional but not particularly good. Jumping/platforming is awful but fortunately the game doesn't make you do it very often. I really like how they handle their inventory/menu system in realtime.

In my opinion, System Shock 2 is the best ever FPS/RPG game. It combines an excellent story with a really cool RPG system, and a solid FPS mechanic. It is very dated by today's standards, but at the time it was released it was fantastic.

Apr 6, 2013 · The answer is unequivocal—it's still a great game. (Sorry, but I couldn't wait until the end of the review to get that out.) From beginning to end System Shock 2 is an amazing experience, and from a design standpoint, nearly flawless thanks to strong storytelling, well-implemented gameplay mechanics, and fantastic worldbuilding.
