Many people think sink or swim is a valid onboarding strategy, but I don’t understand it. It personally seems like a bad idea, especially for new grads and interns.
I’d say 10% can afford to hire the best and do so. 20% hire the talent and give proper training. And the other 70% fall into the last category. It is really disheartening, but most employers literally have no idea that training someone should be a thing. The sink or swim method is EVERYWHERE.
