One of the area’s most popular fishing lakes just west of Solon offers a variety of fish populations perfect for beginners to seasoned anglers. At 940 acres, fishing can be done by boat going five mph or less and on shore. There are plenty of boat ramps and a fish cleaning station. Boat rentals are also available.
West of Lake Macbride and part of the Iowa River, this is another popular spot with several types of fish. It is the biggest lake on this list at 5,340 acres. Fishing here is most accessible from a boat but there are some shoreline options. There is no speed limit so calmer times to fish would be in the morning or evening.
In between Tiffin and Oxford sits this 26 acre spot, perfect to bring your family. The lake was just recently renovated and restocked so the fish are not quite up to size limits however, there are still plenty to catch and release. Electronic boats are allowed and shore fishing is excellent.
Located on the south side of Iowa City, this is a great community fishing location with a lot of amenities. Panfish are very popular to catch in this 90 acre lake. Fishing from shore is very accessible, and electric boats are allowed by entering from a boat ramp. Kayak and paddle boat rentals are available.
