Critics have praised Cage's performance as a former elite chef turned recluse, along with the efforts of first-time director Michael Sarnoski and the film's patient writing.
I'd heard it was good. Doug Benson mentioned it a LOT in his Doug Loves Movies podcast. He can be a bit of dick with his guests sometimes but I love his passion for film and I wanted to see "Pig" based on his lasting fixation on it. Tonight my wife and I found it was on Hulu and cued it up.
