A group of exiled Vikings, under the leadership of Asbjörn, are stranded on the coast of Scotland after their ship sinks in a storm. There, they are attacked by soldiers who are escorting the princess Inghean, who is on her way to be married.
Northmen narrates their story focusing on places where key events were played out, from the sack of Lindisfarne in 793 to the murder in Iceland in 1241 of the saga-writer Snorri Sturluson.
