1834: Leixlip Church is built. The old chapel of Maynooth was converted and used as a boy’s school about the same time. 1840: The famine hit the Maynooth population, but there are contradictory accounts. The population of the county in 1841 was 114,488 and had fallen to 57,737 in 1936.
