Martyrs is an absolute recommend, but only to those who are willing to accept the film on its own uncompromising terms. All others are advised to stay well clear away.
For years, I have heard that Martyrs (2008) is the most disturbing movie ever made. I never knew anything about it, and I never bothered to look it up, until I started watching more disturbing/underground horror at the end of 2021.
It is indeed a great movie but not easy to watch. It tests your nerves and senses. This movie has it all, drama, horror, discust and it slowly enters your mind. It's a story that begins with a shooting of a family, but than the real story begins.
