      • Though may be a bit unwieldy for younger viewers, it is still a great adaptation of Jane Austen's work. Through the charming, funny, and strong performances, Mansfield Park succeeds its in depth study and thematic material splendidly.

  2. Apr 2, 2024 · Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park has been adapted to the screen quite a few times. The two versions for my romantic competition is the 1999 version starring Frances O’Connor and Jonny Lee Miller versus the 2007 version with Billie Piper and Blake Ritson. Both adaptations have excellent points about them.

  3. I like Mansfield Park, but I don't think there's been a good adaptation - there's nothing that makes me happy in terms of having a great cast + script + having life to it. I just rewatched the Rozema movie from the 90s and the cast is spectacular, but the adaptation itself is awful.

  6. Oct 5, 2024 · While there has yet to exist a truly faithful version done well as a film (the ’80s miniseries is good – but feels more like a dramatized play) of Jane Austen’s book, this film, with its production quality, intelligence, underlying societal commentary, and swoony romance, soars above the others.

  7. Mansfield Park has received generally favourable reviews from critics. Film review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes reports that 77% of critics gave the film a positive review based on 69 reviews, with an average score of 6.9/10. The website's critical consensus reads, "Solid performances, bold direction." [12]

  8. Mar 16, 2022 · Mansfield Park” (1999) Directed by Patricia Rozema and starring several Austen repeat actors (including Jonny Lee Miller, Victoria Hamilton, Hugh Bonneville), this feature film borrows heavily from Austen’s juvenilia and sort of combines the character of Fanny Price with Austen herself.
