One of the few mahjong manga to actually represent the game in an approximately realistic way and to focus to an extent on strategy instead of superpowers or unholy luck. Also has some pretty interesting strategy articles between some of the chapters.
No matter how many time I see it in manga I never understood it. Is there any manga that will help me understand mahjong?
I am not familiar with any novels but there are numerous manga about mahjong some more realistic than others. There might also be light novels some of which may have been translated into English either by professional translators or by fan translators.
