- Old Town. Lviv had the good fortune of escaping major destruction in the Second World War, and its position on the trade roads between the Black Sea and Central Europe furnished it with more beautiful architecture than you can hope to get through in one visit.
- St George’s Cathedral. This 18th-century Catholic cathedral looks out over Lviv from its namesake hill on the west side of the city. It was built over 15 years up to 1760 and its exterior ornamentation is as rich as it gets.
- Market Square. It seems like all streets in the Old Town converge on this historic and hectic central square surrounding Lviv’s Town Hall. Market Square heaves with locals, tourists and street performers and the amount to see on this one plaza is almost overwhelming: There are glorious townhouses on each side of the square, many from the Renaissance (especially on the East side), and some with later Rococo designs.
- City Hall. The seat of Lviv’s city council is a medley of buildings, the oldest dating to the 14th century. The oldest elements are towards the centre, while the western side is from the turn of the 16th century.

Jan 18, 2021 · Lviv is one of Ukraines largest cities and is situated in the west of the country around 70KM from the Polish border. The city in the past used to be part of the Polish Kingdom and you can see this in the cities architecture, especially on the main square. Lviv is at the other side of Ukraine to the current war in Crimea.
- Rynok square. One of the first things to do in Lviv is to visit Rynok Square, also known as Market Square. This is the heart of the old town. Here, you’ll find the 64-meter-tall Town Hall and fountains with statues of Greek gods and goddesses in each corner of the square.
- Town hall tower. Price: 20 UAH. The town hall is at the center of the marketplace. You can climb the town hall tower and get the best view of Lviv. It’s a steep way to the top, but there’s a cafe with drinks and water on the way up.
- Dominican Cathedral. Just a stone’s throw away, you’ll find the beautiful 1764 Dominican Cathedral. The Dominican Cathedral is considered to be one of the best monuments to late baroque architecture not only in Lviv but all of Europe.
- Italian yard. Price: 2 UAH. The Italian Yard was a bit hard to locate. You’ll find it on Rynok Square 6, towards the Dominical Cathedral, hidden inside a museum.
Apr 1, 2024 · Visit the Pharmacy Museum. At the corner of Rynok Square, Drukarska and Stavropihiiska Streets you will find the Pharmacy Museum. This is still a working pharmacy, the oldest one in Lviv, operating since 1775. There are 16 rooms with over three thousand exhibits showing the history of the pharmacy and medicine.
