Jul 2, 2024 · In July and August we will be delivering 12 level-access tram stops at six locations along La Trobe Street, at Docklands Stadium (Stop D1), Spencer Street (Stop 1), William Street (Stop 3), Elizabeth Street (Stop 5), Swanston Street (Stop 6) and Exhibition Street (Stop 8).
La Trobe Street is the last remaining CBD tram corridor without accessible tram stops. With low-floor E Class trams operating on Route 30, a major tram route along La Trobe Street, upgrading the tram stops along this corridor will provide greater accessibility benefits for tram passengers.
There will be 24-hour road closures on La Trobe Street between Harbour Esplanade and Queen Street from 10.30pm Friday 12 July to 4am Saturday 27 July for Stage 1 of the construction of the new level-access tram stops. Expect up to 15 minutes extra travel time, plan ahead and allow extra time.
