It depends on what you define as LA. All the incorporated Cities such as Pasadena, Santa Monica, Burbank, Culver City, etc are not part of City of LA but they are within the boundaries of LA County. If someone in LA County asks you where you're from you tell them the municipality since LA County is huge.
