- Kingdom is a decent action adventure that just takes a while to really get going. The performances aren't totally satisfying and the story isn't exactly hard to follow, but it does feel like it's trying to be more convoluted than it needs to be.

However, the overall better experience is the manga. The anime skips a pretty important arc in the first season, and it censors the brutality heavily. But there are scenes in the anime that are better than in the manga, because the soundtrack and voice acting are amazing.

It's an anime live action movie which means some things look...silly on-screen. Ouki was well cast and big enough (don't enough if the actor is super tall or if it was camera trickery but he stood about a foot taller than everyone else) to have the presence you would expect of him though when he used his glaive it looked silly.
The basic premise is a once slave boy named Xin (Kento Yamazaki) unites with a king Ying Zheng (Ryo Yoshizawa) to help him reclaim his throne from his evil younger brother Cheng Jiao (Kanata Hongo). They battle assassins, mountain people and huge armies in China.
