  3. You can absolutely read Insomnia as a stand alone, it’s a great book. The way it relates to TDT is pretty abstract to begin with, and it’s connection to the story is pretty explicitly dismissed in the final DT book, more or less saying “disregard the connections in this book”

  4. Definitely will catch your intrigue. If you prefer his shorter, more action-oriented books, you might find Insomnia unnecessarily bloated and boring. If you like the Dark Tower or are interested in it, Insomnia is an essential read.

  5. Jan 1, 2001 · Insomnia is heavily linked to the Dark Tower books and I'd strongly recommend to read it after you've completed the series. It can be read without reading the DT, it still makes sense, but a lot of references and a big slice of the story would lose its importance without knowing its context.
