I'm curious to see what are this subs overall opinions on Insomnia. What can you say to praise the film and what is your critique. In my opinion it's a pretty good film.
Now after my 2nd viewing, I rank Insomnia as one of my favorite detective movies. There are so many original elements added to the prototypical film noir genre here, that it is borderline innovative. Al Pacino being sadistically taunted by Robin Williams really delighted me on the 2nd watch.
Movie is gorgeous, especially the first 10 minutes or so. This theory never occurred to my while I was watching, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was intentional - that Nolan wanted people to think that Finch was imaginary or some sleep-deprived, guilty hallucination.
