He’s a walking list of a writer’s idea of “the opposite of any NFL coach” and it’s just insultingly unfunny. As the film reaches its thin climax, there’s a scene in which the whole team that Payton is coaching ends up projectile vomiting during a game.

While all the warmth and comfort emanating from the film is good, one can't really shake off the fact that Home Team is based on a true scandal, which conveniently gets swept under the blanket.
