Started off bad and got worse. Arrived to an unbearable stench of open sewers in the hotel, only to be casually told by the staff the drains were being cleaned.

   Where to Park in York?

   • Parking is an issue in the centre of York at busy times. The Peel street car park around the back is the closest but was full at 2pm on Sunday when we arrived in York, though it had spaces when we walked back past it at 4pm. St George's Field is bigger and a little further away, also convenient but across a busy road. Both about £14 for 24 hours.
