There are good rail links to Hamamatsu with Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka (Shinkansenbullet train). Note that the fastest shinkansen, the Nozomi does not stop in Hamamatsu. From Tokyo JR Station take a Hikari or Kodama train to Hamamatsu. The journey is 89 minutes from Tokyo to Hamamatsu by Hikari.
