  2. I like Ghostbusters II, ironically. I'll be the first to admit that it's not as good as the first one, but I still have a legitimate good time whenever I put it on.

  3. Jun 14, 2024 · Ghostbusters II is of course a direct sequel to 1984’s comedy classic Ghostbusters, and is a remnant of the kind of era where a full five years passing between a hit film and its sequel wasn’t...

    • Ghostbusters (1984) IMDb Score: 7.8/10. It’s hard to beat the original, and in the case of Ghostbusters, that couldn’t be truer. Assembling a cast filled with hilarious talent, the original Ghostbusters movie was lightning in a bottle.
    • Ghostbusters 2 (1989) IMDb Score: 6.6/10. Whilst not as beloved as the first, and seemingly not worth a sequel for over 30 years, Ghostbusters 2 does a great job and reintroducing audiences to the Ghostbusters.
    • Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021) IMDb Score: 7.1/10. After 30 years, the original Ghostbusters timeline was back in action. Ghostbusters: Afterlife sets aside any anxieties that audiences might have that this is not Ghostbusters within the first five minutes, by not only showcasing the iconic piano keys and suspenseful opening but by bringing heart back into the series.

Hudson, who played everyman Ghostbuster Winston Zeddemore in both feature films, was willing to reprise his role for the animated series and was asked to audition for the show’s director as a formality.
    • Network executives were concerned Janine’s glasses might scare children. According to writer J. Michael Straczynski, the creative team behind The Real Ghostbusters was largely left to pursue their own iteration of the story in the first season with only minimal network interference from ABC.
    • The show almost canned Ray Stantz. In addition to expressing concern over Janine, ABC had other suggestions for changes in the series. Q5 recommended the show write out the character of Ray Stantz, played by Dan Aykroyd in the film, because he didn’t appear to serve any benefit to the program in their metrics.
  4. Jan 1, 2016 · It’s impossible to deny that Ghostbusters II hits most of the same beats as its predecessor, and while the film received plenty of criticism for doing so, it still generates some reliable gags ...
