Dec 21, 2015 · The bright yellow is a Dupont base coat clear coat. I spent close to 500 hours picking the brushed on latex house paint from around each rivet and seam, feather sanding same followed by priming and blocking to get rid of the brush strokes. The paint has been on for nearly two years and quite a few thousand miles and so far I've had no problems.

I’m not an artist, so I found it tough to come up with skoolie paint ideas. Many people use multiple color accents to give their bus pizzaz. We hope to use graphics rather than shapes and lines to create personality. While we lack artistic talent, our friends do not! Applying Skoolie Paint
I like the look of a sprayed paint as opposed to a brushed or rolled on look. It seems that I can never get out the nap or bristle marks from the final coat. So, like the primer coat, I used a spray gun. Like the primer, I used 4 parts primer and a little over 1 part acetone and 1 part majic hardener. Jul 5, 2020 · Shockingly, our white paint choice did a GREAT job covering the yellow and black of the bus! I anticipated needing to apply at least 3 coats to the entire bus to cover the extreme colors, but most areas only needed 2 coats.
Sep 26, 2022 · If possible practice your painting technique before you start your bus. Keep your gun parallel to the job, spray horizontally, the same distance away ( too close: runs, too far: dry), overlapping each run. Start at a corner and work your way around, trying to keep the edges wet.

Re: Old School Paint Job on our 1961 MCI. I painted the bus this summer, it took 2 months after work, weekends and long hours. I used a urethane primer and a metallic urethane one step paint. The metallic green glitters in the summers sun and looks darker after sunset.
