- Strongest when showcasing the colorful, bygone urban landscapes of a now mostly forgotten version of Los Angeles, Cisco Pike at times resembles the easygoing California hangout films of its time, but thanks to strong supporting performances by Gene Hackman and Harry Dean Stanton, writer/director Bill Norton is able to craft his own darkly comical tale of sex, drugs, and rock & roll that never ends up feeling overly familiar or stale.
