Jun 9, 2020 · Cisco Pike is out now on Blu-Ray in the UK, released by Indicator. The picture quality is excellent, with a nice natural grain and incredible detail. One shot near the end is strangely soft, but I believe it’s a stylistic technique where the filmmaker has cropped in on the image.
Jun 21, 2022 · The film wasn’t released until 1972, but it remains an incredible time capsule. As Kristofferson’s faded musician – the titular Cisco Pike – strides beside the murky, pre-gentrification canals of Venice, Los Angeles looks a far cry from the millionaire’s playground it is now.
The hard, cynical competitiveness of the rock-pop-folk recording scene is displayed in a couple of good scenes. In one of them, Cisco Pike, yesterday’s superstar, tries to get some people to listen to his new tapes. But all they want to know is whether he’s got any fresh dope.
Cisco Pike is a 1972 American drama film that was written and directed by Bill L. Norton, and released by Columbia Pictures. The film stars Kris Kristofferson as a musician who, having fallen on hard times, turns to the selling of marijuana and is blackmailed by a police officer (Gene Hackman).
