- The Chronicles of Riddick is worth praising for its sheer originality; considering how few franchises originate from a new idea that is not based on a popular book, comic, game, or brand, it's impressive that The Chronicles of Riddick was successful enough to justify returning to the material for an upcoming fourth installment.

The worst Riddick movie is Into Pitch Black and committed the worst sin by creating a Riddick movie where he was barely in it. For those who have never heard of it, Into Pitch Black was a sequel mixing random clips from Pitch Black with scenes of a psychologist studying Riddick while he was in prison (Vin Diesel only shows up in a cameo in security...
Arriving in 2004,The Chronicles of Riddick is to all the Riddick movies what T2 was to The Terminator. Or, at least, that was the idea. Everything about the film was big. With a budget nearly five times that of its predecessor, the sequel was far more space opera than space horror, reflecting its PG-13 rating. Picking up five years after the first ...
Riddick goes back to the basics. The grand visuals and epic scope of the second film are abandoned in favor of a darker, grittier tone, and a narrower, more focused approach to the story, with echoes of The Road Warrior, Predator, and The Grey.Diesel's Riddick is once again a brutal killer looking out for number one, but he's grown and learned from...
When it comes to horror films, simplicity works best more often than not. The first film in The Chronicles of Riddick movies, and the only true horror film of all the Riddick movies, is remarkably simple: a disparate group of survivors is marooned on a barren desert planet with perpetual daylight. Chronicles of Riddick is very predictable at times, the actors teetering on the edge of B-grade, the enemy a little flimsy as well as numerous other problems. I still loved Chronicles and was entertained by Live Free or Die Hard, but I can understand someone being disappointed by either of them.
The follow-up "Riddick" is a better movie and I'll just assume you don't want to discuss it because it didn't turn into an entire Chronicle Clusterfuck, and directly benefited from that decision creatively and financially.
Jun 11, 2024 · The film launched a multimedia franchise, but its immediate sequel, The Chronicles of Riddick, pivoted to space opera and was a critically-maligned box office disappointment.

Jun 11, 2004 · 5 min read. In normal times, evil should be fought by good, but in times like this, well, it should be fought by another kind of evil. So says a character named Aereon in the opening moments of “The Chronicles of Riddick,” a futuristic battle between a fascist misfit and a fascist master race.
The Chronicles of Riddick is a 2004 American science fiction action film written and directed by David Twohy. It is a sequel to Pitch Black (2000) and the second installment in the Riddick film series.
