As most people have suspected, it looks as though ticket prices have increased since theaters started reopening. We estimate ticket-price inflation was about 2% in 2020, 10.5% in 2021, and 0.5% in 2022. That figure for 2022 looks quite low, but it was dragged down by very low ticket prices in Q3.
So the discussion is- which movies are worth paying a movie ticket to see in a theatre, which are better to watch at home, are theatres even worth the money, the price of the tickets and so long and so forth.
May 22, 1999 · Well, in regards to buying tickets online, the "convenience" fee is exactly what it says it is. It does take money for, say, Fandango to operate, or even a theater's own online system. It's not unfair to charge a fee to guarantee a seat and not have to wait in line, just as much as you can decide to accept or decline the service.
