  2. Suspecting his wife of infidelity and abused both physically and mentally by his superiors, his problems come to a head in a shocking final act. Kinski is brilliant here as the disturbed soldier, as is Eva Mattes as his wife. There are a few scenes here that aren't brilliant, but this is a very good Herzog film. 7/10.
