Even today’s bummer drama’s usually don’t feel so dismal. Yes, this movie would bever be made today. But I think that it’s more because audiences are a bit more savvy these days and some of what the Ice Storm is trying to say about these characters doesn’t feel completely earned.
The Ice Storm is a perfect movie. Review. The acting is impeccable. Each character can convey what they’re feeling with subtle facial expressions, and they’re all real. The story is such a believable one, including the dialog.
The Ice Storm is my favorite Ang Lee film. I remember seeing it as a teen and recommending it to people. I haven't read the book yet but the movie just nails that short-ordered area of parents trying to parent while being rebellious teenagers themselves and teenagers trying on adulthood while being kids.

Aug 15, 2015 · As I alluded to at the beginning of this essay, The Ice Storm is deep, as it is convoluted. It is also extremely well put together, has some terrific performances. Joan Allen and Christina Ricci really shine. It also has some phenomenal shots and motifs.
