Aug 30, 2019 · “The Fanatic” is a bully, a movie that knocks around the very people who made its creator millions and even the industry that pushed it into existence. This film has no entertainment value to supplement for the lack of humanity at its center.
It was widely considered an unwatchable film, and many critics expressed contempt for it. The most positive response it has gotten is consideration as a so-bad-it's-good film: one critic described it as "the Showgirls of sci-fi shoot-'em-ups." By the way, these kinds of films aren't new for Travolta.
I only saw this (for free) because Chris Stuckmann described it as unintentionally hilarious, and he was right. If you enjoy pointing and laughing at bad movies, give this one a try because I am convinced The Fanatic is going in the So Bad It's Good hall of fame.
Despite a haunting last 60 seconds, The Fanatic is likely to just go down in film history as an embarrassing effort for both Durst and Travolta. Full Review | Original Score: 2/10 | Aug 10, 2021
