The Dinner is a 2017 American drama film directed and written by Oren Moverman, and based on the Dutch novel of the same name by Herman Koch. It is the third film adaptation of the novel, following the 2013 original Dutch version Het Diner by Menno Meyjes and the 2014 Italian film I nostri ragazzi by Ivano De Matteo.

edit: IT has an exceptionally bad plot, like it was stitched together from three or four other movies. But it was fun and enjoyable once it got going. It's not really an exceptionally bad movie. It's a visual medium, and the plot is only one part of it.
That movie was 10 minutes shorter had a fucking talking rat that Controlled a human by pulling his hair and somehow made the drama stick as more organic and the actions of the characters as more realistic than that of the menu. Maybe I was in a bad mood? It's on Disney plus now so maybe I'll give it another go.
